Hey, I’m Tanisha.

I’m a recent graduate & emerging professional with a demonstrated interest in impact research + storytelling, biodiversity conservation, and socio-environmental justice.

Growing up between Connecticut and Mumbai, I developed a strong desire to help combat the pressing issues I witnessed firsthand, starting with sustainability. Consistently distressed about the looming prospect of “climate doom,” I interned at Mumbai’s top veterinary clinic and launched my own sustainability-focused podcast series in high school. During college, I interned at leading global conservation organization Sea Shepherd (learn more about my work here), worked on climate curriculum development programs, and began writing my own book featuring environmental change-makers across the globe.

Determined to gain hands-on experience in impact research + storytelling roles, I graduated from UC San Diego a year early and undertook a Climate Internship at the Indian Space Research Organization. Currently, I’m working as Impact & Outreach Coordinator at Turtle Walker, an upcoming, award-winning feature film focused on conservation (An Emaho Films, HHMI Tangled Bank Studios, and Tiger Baby Production).

But my interests go far beyond environmental impact. From a young age, all my projects and passions have been driven by a single overarching philosophy: mending the world. It was this spirit that drove me to found my own mental wellness initiative during the pandemic, work on impact programs that helped challenge gender stereotypes, and spend more than a decade actively working to improve child rights in low-income communities in India.

I am also drawn to opportunities that help me build community by empowering action and creating space for all. Through my creative writing and role as a Teaching Assistant for an Environmental Justice class, I aim to lend a voice to the traditionally voiceless. As Resident Advisor and Undergraduate Housing Advisory Council Member, I fostered community belonging on campus by responding to sensitive residential issues, promoting safe living environments, and organizing award-winning events. I further honed this skill as Special Events Assistant at Birch Aquarium, where I managed large-scale events to raise support and funding for overarching conservation goals.

In my free time, you will likely find me sipping chai, reading, spending time in nature, exploring with my camera, or cuddling with my cat + dog :)
